We can all do so much!  The more we do together the bigger the impact! Our community needs to work together for our future - and the future of the next generations.

Our future is in our own hands!

Below, we list a few ways that we can all make that difference!

To do more, read up on the subject!

We have many informative books that we are happy to loan to interested Seatonians!

Buy locally produced food

Cycle if you can, rather than taking the car

Buy 'in season' food

Public transport if possible, rather than the car

Shop locally

Check where essentail goods are produced - use most local

ENERGY WITHIN THE HOME:-

Think before consuming extra electrical goods - they won't necessarily make us any happier and will inevitable end up in landfill!

Insulate your loft - 30cm deep is a great amount!

Ensure that all new appliances are the best energy rating

Secondary Glazing of single glazed wooden windows will save lots!

Where possible avoid electrical appliances

Cavity wall insualtion will save on fuel bills

Use local Farmer's Markets

Don't over fill the kettle, and turn lights off when not in use

Support local crafts people and producers - be regional!

Wear more clothes indoors and turn the heating down!

Grow our own vegetables and herbs

Dont leave items on stand by when not in use

Avoid plastic where possible

Turn TV and computer monitors off when not in use

Support Fair Trade

Fit low energy light bulbs in heavy use areas

Don't buy items that have been over-packaged

Only wash clothes when dirty and run washing machine at lower temperatures and when full

Compost your garden waste and peelings

Write to your MP to ask the government to consider Peak Oil and Climate Change in their decission making.

We need to consider 'food security'

Charging Points

juice

Having spoken to many of the exhibitors at the Green Transport Rally, there were many requests for electric vehicle charging points in Seaton.  We had a large number of electric cycles present at the event, but for electric cars or bicycles to become a practical option, it is essential that charging points are made available.  It is an excellent opportunity for Devon to lead the way in sustainable personal transport options, and would assist the area to become an eco-tourism destination.

If you would like to help us to try and prove a need for an electric charging point, please contact us, and we will tell you how you can help further this vital change. Email: info@sustainableseaton.com
