Electric Charging Point in Seaton

Having spoken to many of the exhibitors at the Green Transport Rally, there were many requests for electric vehicle charging points in Seaton.  We had a large number of electric cycles present at the event, but for electric cars or bicycles to become a practical option, it is essential that charging points are made available.  It is an excellent opportunity for Devon to lead the way in sustainable personal transport options, and would assist the area to become an eco-tourism destination.

If you would like to help us to try and prove a need for an electric charging point, please contact us, and we will tell you how you can help further this vital change. Email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Green Transport Gathering 2010 - Report

E-mail Print PDF

On Sunday 6th June ‘Sustainable Seaton’ held their annual ‘Green Transport Gathering’ at the Underfleet in Seaton. The event grows each year as more people embrace electric or alternative personal transport options. This year visitors were able to try for themselves, a range of electric two wheelers at a professional and comprehensive ‘Roadshow’ funded by the AONB. Options included realistically priced electric bicycles and scooters.

Claire Wise said ‘It was great to be able to put such effective alternative transport options before a wider audience! The fun day was well attended, and we were delighted that most of the entrants used sustainable forms of transport to attend – with Dorchester based magazine ‘AtoB’ arriving by bus with their Bromptons and leaving by tram enroute to Axminster station!’

It was a gathering of electric bikes, and trikes, along with tandems, folding bikes and cycle trailers. Less conventional exhibits included a ¾ ton Autotruck (in daily use at the Exeter & Teign Valley Railway), a home engineered hybrid Zetta bubble car, a home created electric assist cycle, and the only folding Brompton tandem in existence!
